Benefit Concert

The concert will be held at The Summit Center at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 19. The featured artist is Andy Ross, TV host of Maximum Archery, and his music may be viewed at www.andyross.com. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will go on sale July 19, two months prior to the show.

Run for the Wall

The Run for the Wall, a 5K run, will begin at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20 in Veterans Park. The fee for the run is $25 and will include a Weekend for Our Heroes t-shirt. The run will end in the park with the awards ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Registration forms may be found at the Tupelo Park and Rec office in Ballard Park or online here. Sign in will begin at 7:00a.m.

Petals for Patriots

Saturday will conclude with the 9th annual Petals for Patriots ceremony. This ceremony is a brief event to honor our Nations fallen and their families. Over 100 gallons of rose petals will be dropped over the future site of the MS Vietnam Memorial Replica wall at approximately 6:00p.m.

Benefit Dinner

A dinner to benefit the MS Vietnam Memorial Wall will be held at 7:30 p.m. at The Summit Center. This dinner will make for a great evening to conclude the Weekend for Our Heroes events. Tickets for the event are available online or by contacting the Vietnam Veterans of America on East Main St. at (662)690-8040.

Family Fun For The Whole Weekend

Weekend for Our Heroes will consist of a Concert, Run, Archery Competition, activities in Veteran's Park. The weekend will be concluded by the Petals for Patriots ceremony and benefit dinner. All proceeds go to benefit the Mississippi Vietnam Memorial Replica Wall project. The wall is a 60% to scale identical replica of the Vietnam Memorial wall in Washington, D.C. A concert will be held at The Summit Center at 8:00 on September 19 to benefit the MS Vietnam Memorial Replica Wall. The concert will be held on POW/MIA day an extremely fitting day to honor those who paid the ultimate price to defend our freedoms. The featured artist is Andy Ross, TV host of Maximum Archery. Saturday, September 20

Saturday will be filled with family fun.  Families can take advantage of a children's play area.  The play area will be provided in the park and for a $5.00 donation to the Wall, properly supervised, children will be allowed access to the area from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m..  Local vendors will be set up for concessions in the park and a picnic area will be available to sit and enjoy the days activities.  Local bands will play in the park from Noon until 5:00 p.m. to add to the days festivities. Two museums will set up displays in the park to provide hands on historical exhibits from past conflicts. The Mississippi Armed Forces Museum and TupeloVeterans Museum will bring samples from their collections to honor our Heroes.

Archery Competition

An archery competition will be held in Veterans Park and begin at 9:00 a.m. The competition will be available to all ages. The fee for the competition is $25 and will include a Weekend for Our Heroes t-shirt. Competitors may bring their own bow, no crossbows, or try out one provided by the sponsor. During the day anyone interested in archery will be able to try their hand and take a shot for a donation to the MS Vietnam Memorial Wall.
